We arrived at the venue at roughly 1pm in order to begin setup. GameBeast arriving at about 2pm for setup. Nights of gaming setup arriving around 6:30pm. Attendee's starting to arrive at 4pm on the Friday. So that they can setup, prepare and get some practice in. Also being able to relax and make themselves at home for the weekend. For evening meal people having either Domino's or chippy. On the Friday we also had Coin Factory come down for a visit to see what it's all about and what goes on. Azurite Computers doing the very same on the Friday as well. Both seeming to be very happy with the setup and what they saw. As we tipped into the early hours of the morning people starting to head to bed. So being fresh for the tournaments starting around 10am on the Saturday.

Now being Saturday morning and people starting to stir. The first call of the day was breakfast. This being some breakfast barms from the local Greggs. The first tournament kicking off and this being: Flat Out 2. There being a couple of warm up rounds and then the tournament itself. The winner of this being: Russell Hobson aka backbydemand. Him winning a XXL Mouse Pad which was kindly provided by Overclockers UK. After there being a pause for people to have some lunch. We then started the second tournament and this being: Postal 2. There being a couple of warm up round and then the tournament itself. The winner of this being: James Poole aka sargara. Him winning a XXL Mouse Pad and a mug. These both kindly provided by Overclockers UK. Along with a copy of Audio Music Lab kindly provided by Magix. Then after another pause for people to have themselves some tea, stretch there legs, have some time in GameBeast and with the nights of gaming setup. We then began the third tournament and this being a Warhammer game. With this there being simply the tournament itself. As for the evening people were left to relax and do there own thing. Part of this time being a few games of Artemis.

On the Sunday breakfast being a cooked breakfast at a local cafe and then after this the fourth and final tournament taking place. This being: Trackmania and after some technical issues and there being a number of warm ups. The tournament itself happened. Nadeo (Ubisoft) very kindly provided prizes for: 1st, 2nd and 3rd. For 1st there being a mouse pad, cup and t-shirt. For 2nd there being a cup and t-shirt and for 3rd a t-shirt. Coming first for this: James Poole aka sargara. Coming second for this: Ali Hamrang aka ali_ew509. Coming third for this: Russell Hobson aka backbydemand. Into the afternoon the tidying up started and people starting to head home. The venue being vacated by 6pm and this bringing to an end Apache Lan 13.

During the weekend we also did a Pac Man tournament on the projector and sound system setup. The winner for this being: Jason Toland aka shrimpyguy. Him winning a XXL Mouse Pad kindly provided by Overclockers UK along with a mug. Him also winning in the bundle a game voucher kindly provided by MSI and Movie Edit Pro kindly provided by Magix. Also taking place was some seat number prizes using a random number generator. The winners for this being: Leila Hamrang aka 4legs and she won herself: a cpu cooler cooler kindly provided by Be Quiet! Ali Hamrang aka ali_ew509. He won himself a pair of gaming glasses kindly provided by Gunnar. Ben Gadsby aka stabbymcstoo and he won himself a gaming headset kindly provided by MSI.

There were a few other planned tournaments but sadly there wasn't time. These being for a music intros quiz, some Shootmania, pinball and Space Invaders on the projector. Perhaps these being for the future events. With Shootmania sadly not enough people that ended up attending actually having the game. Similar issue with Trackmania. These being why an earlier version of Trackmania for the tournament was used in the end. So that everyone could join in and play if they wished to do so. We did also consider a BBQ but sadly on the possible day the weather wasn't right and on the day the weather was nice. This being the day that people were departing for home.

Below are some photos which show some of the setup and some of the winners and prizes etc. Also some links for some videos from the event.

Nice write-up Dave, my only amendment would be:

Quote:
We then began the third tournament and this being a Warhammer game. With this there being simply the tournament itself.

Should actually be:

Quote:
We then began the third tournament and this being an RTS game: "Warhammer:Mark of Chaos". Players were split into 2 seperate groups with an initial qualifying round of FFA and the winner from each group progressing into the final 1v1 match. This was won by Declan aka Shimpyguy

8-)

Point to note, extra prizes donated by MSI were a code for a free copy of Final Fantasy XIV

I'll add it to my mountain of games that I own but not yet played
